Downtown Inc recognizes a different Downtown York-based business each month that has contributed to the economic development in Downtown York by making our community a better place to live, work, and play.

DECEMBER 2023: MESA MOREIRA

Congratulations to Downtown Inc’s December Merchant of the Month, Mesa Moreira! Mesa Moreira, located at 58 W. Market Street, offers Portuguese cuisine pairing fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and simple preparations, a reflection of the owner’s Portuguese heritage. Featured menu items you must try: Shrimp in Garlic Sauce with a hint of Piri Piri sauce, Bifana, thinly sliced pork loin marinated in a Piri Piri sauce served on a Portuguese roll, sip one of the many creative mocktails, and don’t skip the light and fluffy fresh bread with delicious olives. Mesa Moreira is currently BYOB.

NOVEMBER 2023: ewe & me yarn shop

Congratulations to Downtown Inc’s November Merchant of the Month, Ewe & Me Yarn Shop! Ewe and Me Yarn Shop prioritizes local and semi-locally sourced yarns and carries a wide variety of knitting and crocheting tools. They’re a resource for all your knitting and crocheting needs and even provide a space for knitting groups to gather and work. Owner, Joan Carpenter, chose 36 N. Beaver St. in Downtown York as the home of her business 7 years ago because of the character and liveliness of the city. Joan is also proud to be surrounded by other women-owned small businesses.

October 2023: Revival Social Club

Congratulations to Downtown Inc’s October Merchant of the Month, Revival Social Club! Located at 19 N. George St., Revival Social Club recently launched their Fall menu with items like Wild Mushroom Bruschetta and Chicken Svoulaki Meatballs, and specialty cocktails like Cream Cheese Cold Foam on the Spice Spice Baby and All That Bad JuJu, you’ll want to cozy up at Revival for your next casual lunch, happy hour, or special dinner.

September 2023: Cupcakes & More

Cupcakes & More, located inside Central Market at 34 W. Philadelphia St., offers unique and traditional cupcakes, pastries, frozen treats, cakes, and other specialty desserts. Treats can even be customized to accommodate gluten free and vegan diets. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and 6 amazing years in business, join us in congratulating Cupcakes & More as our September Merchant of the Month!

August 2023: Tony ORR Sons & Daughters Barber Shop

Congratulations to Tony Orr Sons & Daughters Barber Shop, Downtown Inc’s August Merchant of the Month! Located at 116 W. Philadelphia St., Tony Orr Sons & Daughters Barber Shop has been in operation for the last thirty years. When asked what he likes about owning a business in Downtown York, owner Anthony Orr says he loves being his own boss and the location is perfect. View the video here.

July 2023: Mudhook Brewing Company

Congratulations to Mudhook Brewing Company, Downtown Inc’s July Merchant of the Month! Located at 34 N. Cherry Lane in the heart of Downtown York’s Market District, Mudhook Brewing Company has been the ‘anchor’ brew pub bringing craft brew lovers together since 2010. Along with Mudhook’s unique craft brews, the pub is also focused on serving beer-inspired dishes. Enjoy the fun pub atmosphere, cool craft brews, quality food, indoor and outdoor seating, live music, and even a game room upstairs. Celebrate the end of Summer at Mudhook’s Annual Beach Party happening August 18-26 with live music, beach-themed cocktails, beach-themed decor, food specials, and tons of sand!

June 2023: Archetype Pizza

Congratulations to Archetype Pizza, Downtown Inc’s June Merchant of the Month! Located at 33 W Market Street, in Downtown York, Archetype Pizza is more than your local pizza spot, theres something to try for everyone! You can build your own pizza, pick one of their traditional “round pies,” or for all the carb lovers out there try one of their delicious Detroit-style deep dish pizzas. May 2023: Iron Horse York

Congratulations to Iron Horse, Downtown Inc’s May Merchant of the Month! Located at 1 W. Market Street, Iron Horse York sits in the heart of Downtown York on the northwest corner of Continental Square.

April 2023: Homegrown Marketplace

Congratulations to Homegrown Marketplace for being named Downtown Inc’s April of the Month! Located inside Central Market in the Market District of Downtown York, Homegrown Marketplace is owned and operated by the Robeson Family, with a deep commitment to faith, family, and food!

Together with their three kids, Ryan and Mary-Christine excitedly bring their fresh and organic products grown from their York County homestead to Central Market each and every week. Selling dry goods, local honey, milk, eggs, produce and much more, they can be visited during regular Central Market business hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. March 2023: Gusa by Victoria

Congratulations to Gusa by Victoria for being named Downtown Inc’s March of the Month! Located at 46 N. Duke Street in the Royal Square District of Downtown York and only feet away from the newly reopened Yorktowne Hotel, Gusa offers handmaid items, fashion, and accessories.

February 2023: Russy’s Sweet Treats

Russy’s Sweet Treats, located inside Central Market (34 W. Philadelphia St.) specializes in a variety of sweet treats like cupcakes, edible arrangements, covered strawberries, fresh fruit smoothies, and more. Russy attributes her success in the community to the lasting customer relationships she’s developed throughout the years.

January 2023: Prince Street Cafe

Prince Street Cafe’s Continental Square location provides an open, welcoming atmosphere for lunch, a business meeting, or time alone with your favorite book. Temporarily closed due to a burst pipe that caused flooding over the holidays, they decided to compensate staff to help the community instead of laying them off. Staff partnered with CRDC USA recycling plant to sort materials and with Friends & Neighbors of Pennsylvania to pass out personal hygiene items.
