Downtown Inc was proud to represent Downtown York at the 2026 Pennsylvania Downtown Center Conference, held June 28–July 1 in Erie, Pennsylvania. The annual conference, themed “Making Waves on Main Street,” brought together downtown revitalization professionals, community leaders, and changemakers from nearly 200 Main Street and Elm Street communities across the Commonwealth to share innovative ideas, successful programs, and strategies for building vibrant downtowns.
Representing Downtown York at the conference were Downtown Inc Director Sarah OBrien and York Business Improvement District Authority (YBIDA) Treasurer Sarah Malinsky of Royal Square Development & Construction. Together, they showcased the collaborative partnerships that continue to strengthen Downtown York.
Director Sarah O’Brien presented “Vacant to Vibrant: Imagine the Possibilities,” highlighting Downtown Inc’s vacant property marketing campaign and Downtown Investment Guide. The presentation explored how creative marketing, strategic partnerships, and accessible investment resources can connect entrepreneurs, developers, and property owners while making it easier to invest in Downtown York.
Downtown Inc also participated in “BID 101,” sharing the story of the York Business Improvement District and discussing how a strong BID creates clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces, enhances the visitor experience, and supports a thriving business community.
One of the highlights of the conference came during the Pennsylvania Downtown Center’s annual Townie Awards, where Downtown Inc received the Promotions & Marketing: General Image & Identity Award for the WHY YORK: Imagine the Possibilities campaign.
The Townie Awards recognize exceptional projects, programs, and events that exemplify excellence in community revitalization across Pennsylvania, making the recognition especially meaningful among such a competitive field of Main Street and Elm Street organizations.
This award reflects the creativity, collaboration, and dedication of Downtown Inc’s creative team, whose outstanding marketing and promotional materials helped elevate the campaign and communicate the vision for Downtown York in a compelling way. Their thoughtful design and storytelling played a significant role in bringing the campaign to life and earning statewide recognition.
