Downtown Inc proudly installed three brand new creative crosswalks throughout Downtown York, further enhancing the vibrant visual landscape of our community. These colorful additions build on the momentum of our May installation in Royal Square and the five crosswalks completed along the York County Heritage Rail Trail in 2023.
Each of these projects reflects our ongoing commitment to beautifying public spaces, promoting pedestrian safety, and enriching the downtown experience for visitors and residents alike.
We are incredibly thankful to the talented artists whose creativity and dedication to community improvement made this possible:
-
Tetra Creative Studio
-
Martin Library
-
Ms. Shaver’s art students at William Penn Senior High School
-
Nicole Osborne
These artists contributed original designs that were transformed into durable, visually striking crosswalks using 3M’s Stamark© material, a high-quality product with an estimated lifespan of 7–10 years.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration and support of our partners. Special thanks to Annalisa Gojmeric for her continued inspiration, guidance, and technical expertise, which were vital in bringing these designs to life. We also extend our gratitude to the City of York Highway Department for their installation assistance, the Downtown Inc Ambassadors for their on-the-ground support, and The Yorktowne Hotel, who generously sponsored the new crosswalk on Market Street.
As Downtown York continues to grow and evolve, projects like this help reinforce our identity as a creative, welcoming, and walkable community. Whether you’re strolling to lunch, heading to the market, or just exploring our neighborhoods, we hope these crosswalks brighten your path.
